Controller

What we process, and why
- Purchases. RibbonBridge is sold by Stripe, which acts as reseller (merchant of record) and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, country and order details, and use them to issue your licence key, send purchase-related messages and keep the records tax law requires. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR.
- Free trial. To start the 7-day free trial you enter your email address. The app also sends a one-way hash of your Mac's hardware ID (a SHA-256 value from which the ID itself can't be recovered), so each Mac gets one trial even after reinstalling. We store your email address, this hash and the trial's start and end dates, and use them to provide the trial and to send you messages about it, such as when it ends. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Trial records are deleted automatically one year after the trial started.
- Tips and offers (optional). Only if you tick the box when starting the trial do we send you occasional emails with tips and offers about RibbonBridge. We store your email address and the time of your consent as proof, separately from your trial and until you withdraw your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing support@ribbonbridge.com or using the unsubscribe link in every such email; this doesn't affect the lawfulness of earlier emails. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
- Licence checks. The app sends your licence key and a random ID created on your Mac to ribbonbridge.com when you activate it and about once a day, to confirm the key is valid and used on one Mac only. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- Updates. The app checks ribbonbridge.com about once a day for new versions. This request contains your IP address and the app version. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR (keeping the software secure and working).
- What the app does not collect. RibbonBridge reacts to key presses only inside Microsoft Excel, right after you tap the Option key. Nothing you type, and none of your spreadsheet content, is stored or sent anywhere.
- Website. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We use no cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no external fonts.
- Support. If you email us, we use your message and address to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR).
Recipients
Stripe (payments, reseller) and Cloudflare (hosting and the licence service). Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, it is protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Storage period
Licence records are kept for as long as your licence is active. Purchase and accounting records are kept for the periods required by German tax and commercial law (up to 10 years).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Email support@ribbonbridge.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Bavarian Data Protection Authority: Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, www.lda.bayern.de.
3. Lizenzbedingungen / Licence terms
Provided in English for our international customers.
Purchase
RibbonBridge is sold by Stripe as reseller ("Sold through Link"). Your purchase contract, payment, receipt and invoice are with Stripe, including your statutory rights as a consumer such as the right of withdrawal. Prices are shown in euros and include VAT where applicable.
The licence
A RibbonBridge licence is a one-time purchase that lets you use the app on one Mac, for personal or business use. You may not share, resell or redistribute your licence key or the app. Moving the licence to a new Mac is free: email us.
Refunds
In addition to your statutory rights: if RibbonBridge doesn't work for you, email us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. After a refund the licence key stops working.
Updates and support
Your licence includes updates to version 1 of RibbonBridge. We help with installation and licence questions by email.
Requirements and liability
RibbonBridge needs a supported version of macOS and of Microsoft Excel for Mac with its KeyTips feature. Because it builds on Excel, changes Microsoft makes to Excel can affect how it works; we aim to adapt through updates. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Applicable law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence also apply.
